The MS 500i is the world's first chainsaw with electronically controlled fuel injection technology. The innovative STIHL Injection technology guarantees optimum engine performance and excellent starting characteristics, regardless of altitude and ambient temperature. Sensors measure the atmospheric pressure and the internal and external temperature, and transmit this information to the control unit. The latter uses the data to calculate the ideal fuel quantity and ignition timing under the prevailing conditions. The fuel is supplied in appropriate doses by opening and closing a valve. STIHL Injection technology is synonymous with fast acceleration, extremely high power and low weight: The chainsaw accelerates from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in 0.25 seconds. The MS 500i has the highest power-to-weight ratio of any machine on the market, reaching an unrivalled value of 1.24 kg/kW. The electronically controlled fuel injection takes place in the proven STIHL 2-MIX engine, which combines high performance with low fuel consumption. The petrol chainsaw has the STIHL ElastoStart system that protects your muscles and joints. The HD2 air filter, safety nuts on the hood cover, adjustable oil pump, tool-free fuel cap and side chain tensioner round off the top features.
